Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Hien checks the master plan for preservation of Kiep Bac relic site

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, on November 2 afternoon inspected the progress of building and planning some items at Con Son and Kiep Bac relic sites.

He was accompanied by Mr. Luong Van Cau, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of several concerned departments and sectors.

The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee checked the construction of items in a project to repair and renovate Con Son pagoda and heard the Management Board of Con Son – Kiep Bac Relic Sites (MBCSKBRS) report on a master plan for preservation of Kiep Bac relic site.

Accordingly, there are two planning options proposed by the MBCSKBRS.

Option 1 is to move all kiosks on both sides of Than Dao road to the lakeside area to the south of the temple and keep parking lot 1 intact.

Option 2 is to plan nearly 4 ha of land outside the dyke of the Luc Dau river (to the north of the temple) to serve as a parking lot, a service area, and the organization venue of some ceremonies of festivals.

Thus, the present 57 kiosks along the two sides of Than Dao road will be relocated to the new area to return clearness to the relic site.

Than Dao road is also defined as the main approach to Kiep Bac temple, not the current stone road.

Vehicles will move from the route behind the temple, go up the dyke of the Luc Dau river, and enter the parking lot from which people will walk to the temple through the main gate.

The MBCSKBRS also included the construction of a monument to the victory over Yuan troops on Tram Rong mountain, the renovation of three lakes, the construction of embankments for the lakes, 6m-wide walkways around the lakes, and Vien tomb near the southeast lake, the planting of more trees, etc. in the plan.

After having inspected the construction progress of the items and heard the master plan, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien required the MBCSKBRS to continue urging the contractor to accelerate the construction of the items at Con Son pagoda and guarantee the time, architecture, and quality of the works without affecting the landscape of the relic.

In which, the building of an internal three-door gate and left and right corridors for Con Son pagoda must finish before Con Son – Kiep Bac Spring Festival.

Regarding the two options of the master plan for preservation of Kiep Bac relic site, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee directed that in the immediate time, priority would be given to option 1. Option 2 is also feasible and will be considered later if possible.

The tasks that need to be done soon are to embank the lake to the south of the temple and plan the service area to move the kiosks there.

After the kiosks and parking lot are relocated, their current locations will be used to plant trees, build roads, and place stone chairs for visitors to festivals to rest and contemplate the scenery.

The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee said that the planning options developed by the MBCSKBRS basically defined the items clearly. However, they should be adjusted and supplemented more specifically.
