The 1,000cc motorcycle pair features refined design, upgraded aerodynamics, improved suspension and braking performance.
Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha has introduced the 2025 versions of the R1 and R1M to the world, first in the US and European markets. In the new version, the R1 and R1M focus on aerodynamics, driving feel, braking performance and maintain the overall iconic design of the pair of 1,000cc Yamaha motorcycles.
The 2025 YZF-R1 and R1M add a wing to improve aerodynamics. The wing is inherited from Yamaha's YZR-M1 MotoGP racing bike. The wing provides downforce, especially when cornering and accelerating, helping to increase stability and performance.
The Japanese motorcycle company upgraded the KYB front shock absorbers that can be adjusted specifically for the R1, helping to improve response to the road surface and stabilize the frame. While the high-performance R1M continues to be equipped with a high-end Ohlins suspension system.
One of the most anticipated upgrades to Yamaha’s 1,000cc sportbike is the braking system, which includes Brembo Stylema calipers combined with Brembo’s four master cylinders. This upgrade was gathered from feedback from R1 owners.
R1 and R1M are equipped with the same 998cc inline 4-cylinder engine, 200 horsepower, maximum torque of 113 Nm. Manual clutch, 6-speed gearbox with 2-way quick shift technology. Driving support features such as ABS support when cornering IMU, traction control, wheelie control, multiple driving modes. In particular, Yamaha upgraded the engine of R1 and R1M to meet Euro 5 emission standards.
According to plan, Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M 2025 will be sold first in the US and Europe, then to other countries. Price 19,000-27,700 USD.
