At least 25 people were killed and five injured when a tourist bus crashed into a truck in the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia, rescuers said on January 8.
The incident occurred on the evening of January 7 in Gaviao, about 250 km from the state capital Salvador. Local media published images of the truck's mangled body after the accident.
The cause of the incident is currently unknown. The victims' bodies have been handed over to the police for identification.
The town hall of Jacobina, the city closest to the accident site, has declared three days of mourning for the victims since January 8 and is preparing to hold a ceremony according to local customs for the deceased.
