Bus crashes into stationary dump truck in India, killing at least 10 people

A bus carrying these people crashed into a stationary dump truck on a road in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, killing at least 10 people and injuring 24 others.

On September 29, Indian police said the accident happened a day earlier between a sleeper bus carrying passengers and a dump truck carrying stones at Nadan Dehat police station in Maihar district, about 490 km northeast of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.

The incident left five people dead on the spot while 29 others were taken to Satna Hospital. Five of them later died while undergoing treatment at the hospital and two passengers are in critical condition.

Rescuers used bulldozers and steel cutters to free passengers trapped inside the damaged bus after the accident. Police have ordered an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. The bus was carrying passengers from Uttar Pradesh to Nagpur in Maharashtra when it crashed.
