After the first day of competition on March 13, Thai athletes are temporarily leading the Lexus Challenge 2024 rankings, respectively Runchanapong Youprayong, Itthipat Buranatanyarat and Sangchai Kaewcharoen.
On the opening day of the Lexus Challenge 2024 Golf Tournament, the first groups started at 6:45 a.m. on holes one and ten. However, due to weather conditions that did not allow enough light to continue playing, some groups were unable to complete the first 18 holes.
After the first day of competition, Thai athletes are temporarily occupying the top three positions on the rankings, respectively Runchanapong Youprayong, Itthipat Buranatanyarat and Sangchai Kaewcharoen.
Truong Chi Quan is currently the Vietnamese athlete with the best score on the rankings after the first day of competition with a score of (+2).
Leading with a total score of (-5) is Runchanapong Youprayong. Starting the day on hole number one and having a double bogey on hole four, the athlete born in 2001 immediately recovered with a birdie on the next hole, an eagle on hole number six and another birdie on hole seven. Halfway through the return leg with a bogey free result, Runchanapong brought home three more birdies on holes 10, 12, 15 to take sole possession of the top spot on the first day of competition.
Closely trailing by a point in second place was compatriot Itthipat Buranatanyarat. Despite two bogeys on the first and second holes, Itthipat still managed to birdie five times to close out 18 holes with a score of -4 in Round 1.
Ranked third with a total score of (-3) is Japanese golfer Leo Oyo and tied for fourth with a total score of (-2) are Thai golfer Sangchai Kaewcharoen and Pakistani golfer Ahmad Baig.
Today, March 14, Athletes who have not completed their competition will start in Round 1 with the first groups competing in Round 2. This is also the day of the Elimination Round to select the 50 Athletes with the best scores (and those with equal rankings) to continue to have the opportunity to "breakthrough" at Lexus Challenge 2024.
