The first batch of 66 electric buses was delivered by VinFast to Transerco and Bao Yen, with a maximum capacity of 60 people.
On the morning of January 17, the electric buses delivered by VinFast this time are the latest model, researched and developed by the company for urban spaces, contributing to promoting the goal of achieving 100% electric buses by 2035 in the capital. The buses delivered have two configurations, 60 seats (24 seats) and 30 seats (18 seats), integrating a variety of features, which can be customized according to the needs of the operating unit.
The first batch of buses delivered has 66 vehicles, with a maximum capacity of 60 people, including 24 seats, 34 standing spaces, and an area for wheelchairs and a driver's seat. The vehicle has dimensions of length, width, and height of 8,610 x 2,470 x 3,220 (mm), respectively. The wheelbase is 4,850 mm and the unladen weight is 9,300 kg. The bus model is equipped with a liquid-cooled electric motor, rear-wheel drive, a maximum speed of 80 km/h, and uses LFP batteries.
The bus model is equipped with front and rear air suspension, hydraulic power steering system, front and rear disc brakes and advanced safety technologies such as: anti-lock braking system (ABS), emergency brake assist (BA), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), front and rear door anti-pinch sensor system, sign system, LED lights, buttons...
Similar to the first smart bus model being operated by VinBus nationwide, the new bus line also has a system to lower the floor of the vehicle, making it easier for wheelchairs to move up and down. Ms. Duong Thi Thu Trang, Deputy General Director of VinFast Global Business, said that the compact size makes the new bus model suitable for moving in the city, densely populated areas, and is environmentally friendly.
"VinFast's new electric bus line will create momentum to promote green transformation in public transport in Vietnam. To accelerate the greening process, VinFast commits to a good price policy, superior warranty, and provides flexible charging solutions that suit the needs of transport units," she said.
In the immediate future, VinFast's new electric bus fleet will operate on four routes with starting and ending points respectively: route 05 (Mai Dong - Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment); route 39 (Nghia Do Park - Den Lu Parking Lot); route 47 (including branch route 47A: Long Bien - Bat Trang and branch route 47B: National Economics University - Kieu Ky) and route 59 (Dong Anh - Vietnam Academy of Agriculture).
It is expected that this year, all buses on the above routes will be replaced with electric buses. The use of this type of bus will increase the total number of trips converted to electric buses in the city to 14, in addition to the 10 routes currently operated by VinBus. According to the roadmap, by 2035, the proportion of buses in the capital will reach 100% electric vehicles.
VinFast said it is continuing to develop new bus lines with designs and sizes suitable for local traffic characteristics, promoting the greening of public transport according to the Government's roadmap.
