Reuters news agency reported that on August 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a video on his Telegram account.
In the footage, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Alexander Syrsky, is seen briefing on the fighting situation in Kursk province, saying that Ukrainian forces have continued to advance further in Kursk, by 1 to 2 kilometers in various areas since the beginning of the day.
General Syrsky said the border town of Sudzha in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation was completely under Ukrainian control.
However, the Russian Federation side claims that fighting is still going on in this town.
On the same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he held a meeting on the security and humanitarian situation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, where the Ukrainian army has launched an unprecedented cross-border offensive.
For his part, also after the above meeting, Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klymenko also said that the country's army will allow the evacuation of civilians from Russia's Kursk province and create a buffer zone there.
In a statement on August 14 quoted by AFP news agency, Mr. Klymenko said: "The creation of a buffer zone in Kursk province is a step to protect our border communities from daily hostile shelling."
Earlier on August 6, Ukraine sent troops to attack the Russian Federation's Kursk border province in Kiev's largest cross-border operation since Moscow launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
The attack prompted the Russian Federation to declare a state of emergency in Kursk, evacuating nearly 200,000 people, marking the most significant foreign military attack on Russian territory since World War II.
