The 'carrot capital' Duc Chinh (Cam Giang, Hai Duong) is bustling with harvesters these days. This is the local staple agricultural product with hundreds of tons of goods exported every day.
This year, carrots in Duc Chinh commune were harvested 1 month later than usual due to the impact of storm No. 3.In return, this year's carrots are more beautiful than every year, the roots are brighter and bigger. However, the price of carrots this year is only about 7,000 VND/kg, a decrease of 1,500 VND/kg compared to last year.Carrots are tied into bags weighing 20kg/bag before being sold to traders.People are excited because carrots are in season, beautiful, harvested in favorable weather.According to Duc Chinh Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative, the commune has 10 carrot processing workshops, including 6 export processing workshops.Carrot processing factories attract many local workers and workers from the northern mountainous region to work.Carrots are transferred to the factory for processing and packaging before export.Traders come to buy carrots from peopleThis year, the carrot output in the commune is expected to reach about 25,000 tons, an increase of about 5,000 tons compared to last year. 80% of the carrot output of Duc Chinh Agricultural Service Cooperative is exported, the rest is consumed in the domestic market. The main consumer market of Duc Chinh carrots is Korea. Currently, there are 5 enterprises purchasing Duc Chinh carrots for export to this market.This cooperative currently has 360 hectares of carrots with 9 concentrated production areas, of which 90 hectares are certified to meet VietGAP standards, an increase of 40 hectares compared to 2023. This is the time to enter the harvest season, exporting about 300 tons per day. Carrots will be harvested in full after Tet, at that time, about 1,000 tons per day will be exported.MINH NGUYEN
