Vehicles transporting flood relief goods will no longer be exempt from road use fees when passing through toll stations.
The Vietnam Road Administration has just sent a document to investors, BOT project enterprises, and the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) requesting to stop exempting road service fees for vehicles transporting relief goods due to the impact of storm No. 3 (storm Yagi).
In recent days, storm No. 3 (storm Yagi) has swept through the northern provinces of our country, causing devastation and heavy losses in human lives and property, seriously affecting all aspects of people's lives and economy, damaging thousands of houses and public infrastructure works.
Promoting the spirit of solidarity, “mutual love and support”, “the strong help the weak” and to support the transportation of relief goods to affected areas, helping people overcome the consequences of storms and floods, on September 13, the Vietnam Road Administration requested investors and project enterprises to consider and direct toll stations to exempt road use fees for vehicles transporting relief goods when passing through toll stations.
Exempting fees for vehicles transporting relief goods has created conditions for the rapid transport of relief goods to areas affected by storms and floods, helping people overcome damage, stabilize their lives and restore production, and has been supported by people nationwide.
Up to now, the exemption of fees for vehicles transporting relief goods has basically met practical requirements.
To stabilize the organization of road service fee collection of project enterprises, the Vietnam Road Administration requests agencies and units to strictly control vehicles subject to fee exemption; coordinate with relevant agencies and units to handle subjects that take advantage of the policy of free road service fee for vehicles transporting relief goods, causing disorder and traffic safety at toll stations.
Investors, project enterprises, and VEC will stop exempting road use fees for vehicles transporting relief goods when passing through toll stations from 0:00 on October 13.
The subjects exempted from road use service fees are implemented according to Circular No. 35/2016 of the Ministry of Transport regulating the maximum road use service price for road construction investment projects for business purposes managed by the Ministry and Circular No. 28/2021 of the Ministry amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular No. 35/2016.
