In the hearts of veteran party members, the memory of the day they officially became communist soldiers is always deeply engraved and indelible.

Honored and cherished

In the atmosphere of the first days of the new spring, especially on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), I visited Mr. Le Xuan Tho, born in 1925 in residential area No. 2, Tran Hung Dao ward (Hai Duong city). Mr. Tho is the only party member in the province to be awarded the 80-year Party membership badge on February 3 this year.

Mr. Tho recalled that after the August Revolution in 1945, the whole country followed President Ho Chi Minh's call: "Those who can read and write, teach those who cannot read and write, and contribute to popular education." During that time, along with other tasks, Mr. Tho called for opening classes, mobilizing illiterate people to go to school and directly teaching people in the locality. In 1946, Mr. Tho was selected by the Party cell to join the Party.

At 100 years old, at a rare age, many things have been forgotten, but Mr. Tho still clearly remembers the moment 80 years ago, when he was able to stand in the ranks of the Party, officially becoming a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

“I am honored and very proud” - Mr. Tho repeated that feeling many times when sharing with us about the moment he was admitted to the Party. He said that to be admitted to the Party, each person must train and go through many challenges and difficulties.

Keeping his oath as a party member, Mr. Tho devoted his whole life to the cause of fighting, protecting and building the Fatherland. Having worked in many positions and held many different positions, the love for the Party remained intact in the heart of the cadre who was a former political prisoner in Con Dao prison.

In 1983, Mr. Tho retired and returned to participate in local Party activities.

Never forget

Mr. Tran Van Tu was proud to be admitted to the Party when he was only 18 years old.

December 4, 1959 has become an unforgettable milestone in the memory of Mr. Tran Van Tu, born in 1941 in Tru Ha residential area, Dong Lac ward (Chi Linh city). That was the day he officially joined the Party.

Despite his advanced age, Mr. Tran Van Tu, former Chief Prosecutor of the 2nd Army Corps, still retains the demeanor and personality of a soldier of Uncle Ho's army.

Recalling the day he was admitted to the Party 66 years ago, Mr. Tu said he still felt as excited and thrilled as he did in his youth. For Mr. Tu, many milestones in life can be forgotten, but the day he was admitted to the Party is always deeply engraved. At that time, being selected to join the Party at the age of 18 was a great honor. Comrade Tu was the youngest Party member of the Party cell at that time.

Mr. Tu recalled that while working as an accountant at Dong Lac cooperative, he was asked by a Party cell member: "Do you want to strive to join the Party?" Without hesitation, the young man Tran Van Tu firmly answered "I really want to". Mr. Tu confided: "Actually, at that time, I was not enlightened, but in my mind and heart, I always longed to be in the Party's ranks."

After being admitted, party member Tran Van Tu joined the army. After 1 month, the party organization in the unit organized a congress. At that time, among the new recruits, Mr. Tu was the only party member and was allowed to attend the congress. “At that time, I was very honored and proud! At the moment the congress sang the National Anthem, my eyes filled with emotion. Being in the ranks of the Party is very sacred and noble,” Mr. Tu recalled.

After that, Mr. Tu participated in fighting in different battlefields, contributing and serving in the army until his retirement. Talking about the role and responsibility of party members, Mr. Tu borrowed a verse from poet To Huu in the poemLast Will and Testament: “With the revolution, I never joke/ And never dare to deny a danger/ Even though all the fruits of my youth/ I have only reaped a few times”.

Pserve the homeland

Sharing the same pride when recalling the glorious milestone in his life, Mr. Nguyen Van Vu in Quan Son village, An Son commune (Nam Sach), who is 97 years old this year with 76 years of Party membership, recounted that in 1949, he was admitted to the Party.

At that time, to avoid detection by the enemy, the Party admission ceremony was held quickly, neatly and secretly at people's houses. Mr. Vu recalled: "When I joined the Party, I only had one thought: to serve the revolutionary cause, to contribute to the Fatherland, and to serve the people. The light of the Party helped me overcome many difficulties and challenges."

Mr. Do Van Trung, Secretary of Quan Son Village Party Cell, said that before retiring, Comrade Vu was Vice Chairman of An Son Commune People's Committee. Having devoted his life to the Party, he always promoted the exemplary spirit, clearly demonstrating the role and responsibility of a veteran Party member in the process of building a rich and civilized homeland.

For every party member, the moment of clenching the right hand and raising it to shout three times: “I swear, I swear, I swear” is extremely sacred and moving. It is even more precious and proud for veteran revolutionary comrades. Because their entire lives and youth have been devoted to the revolutionary cause of the Party.
