The Central Committee introduces personnel to elect the President and the National Assembly Chairman.

According to the announcement of the Central Office, at the 9th Conference, the Party Central Committee decided to introduce personnel for the 15th National Assembly to elect to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term and Chairman of the 15th National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.

Currently, Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Vice President, is holding the position of Acting President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan assumed the position of acting President starting from March 21, after the 15th National Assembly passed a resolution to relieve Mr. Vo Van Thuong from the position of President for the 2021-2026 term and to remove him from the duties of a deputy of the 15th National Assembly on the same day.

According to the Constitution, the President is the head of state, representing the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in domestic and foreign affairs.

The President is elected by the National Assembly from among its members. The President is responsible and reports on his work to the National Assembly.

The process of electing the President will be carried out in the following steps:

- The Standing Committee of the National Assembly submits a list of nominees for the National Assembly to elect the President.

- The National Assembly discusses and votes to approve the list to elect the President. The National Assembly elects the President by secret ballot.

- The counting committee announces the results of the vote counting and voting. The National Assembly discusses and votes to pass the resolution to elect the President.

Also according to the provisions of the Constitution, after being elected, the President will take an oath of allegiance to the Fatherland, the people and the Constitution. The oath will be recognized and monitored by the National Assembly, the people and voters nationwide throughout his term.

For the National Assembly, currently, Permanent Vice President Tran Thanh Man is assigned to direct the activities of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Assembly.

Mr. Man was assigned to take charge from May 2, after the 15th National Assembly passed a resolution to dismiss Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue from the position of National Assembly Chairman for the 2021-2026 term and to remove him from the duties of a National Assembly deputy for the 15th term on the same day.

The process of electing the Chairman of the National Assembly will be carried out in the following steps:

- The Standing Committee of the National Assembly submits a list of nominees for the National Assembly to elect the Chairman of the National Assembly.

- The National Assembly discusses and votes to approve the list to elect the Chairman of the National Assembly. The National Assembly elects the Chairman of the National Assembly by secret ballot.

- The counting committee announces the results of the vote counting and voting. The National Assembly discusses and votes to pass the resolution to elect the Chairman of the National Assembly.

Also according to the provisions of the Constitution, after being elected, the Chairman of the National Assembly will take an oath of allegiance to the Fatherland, the people and the Constitution. The oath will be recognized and monitored by the National Assembly, the people and voters nationwide throughout his term.
