Awarding the Decision to appoint Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Duc Tam

Speaking at the conference on the afternoon of October 22, on behalf of the Party Committee, the Ministry's leaders, and the officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung congratulated Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam on being trusted and believed in by the Party and State; and being appointed by the Prime Minister to hold this great responsibility.

Pursuant to Decision No. 1199/QD-TTg dated October 17, 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh appointed Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam, Director of the Department of National Economic Synthesis, Ministry of Planning and Investment, to hold the position of Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment. The term of appointment is 5 years. The decision takes effect from October 17, 2024.

The head of the Planning and Investment sector said that in the last two terms, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has developed from local sources 7 Deputy Ministers. "This result demonstrates the continuous efforts of the individual comrades; also demonstrates the solidarity, unanimity, and exemplary leadership of the Ministry of Planning and Investment; trusted and highly appreciated by the leaders of the Party and State. The Ministry of Planning and Investment is a united, unified collective, always excellently completing assigned tasks, taking the lead in the cause of innovation, reform, and development of the country", Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that the Ministry of Planning and Investment is the general advisory body on the socio-economic development strategies and plans of the Party and the State. Therefore, the assigned issues and tasks are numerous, very difficult and unprecedented. The Ministry of Planning and Investment is currently the standing member of the Editorial Board of the Socio-Economic Subcommittee of the 14th National Party Congress with strategic issues being raised.

After nearly 40 years of Renovation, the country has achieved many important achievements and results, but there are still many problems, difficulties and challenges ahead to complete the goals set by the 13th Party Congress.

The country is also standing at the door of history to enter a new era - the era of the Vietnamese people's rise as the message of General Secretary To Lam. Therefore, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, as a strategic advisory agency, needs to research and advise on breakthrough policies to create new growth drivers for the country, liberate resources, seize opportunities and resolve challenges. The Minister emphasized that this is an extremely heavy but also very glorious mission of the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Regarding the new Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Tam, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that this is an important event, marking a new process, a new milestone in his personal career. Minister Nguyen Chi Dung hopes that the new Deputy Minister will promote the tradition of solidarity and unity of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, be exemplary, take the lead, and excellently complete the assigned tasks.

In his acceptance speech, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Tam pledged to unite with the Party Executive Committee and the Ministry's leadership to work together with the Minister to successfully carry out the tasks assigned by the Party, National Assembly, Government and Prime Minister.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Tam also affirmed that he will always strive, do his best, constantly learn, practice, be dedicated, and quickly approach new tasks; vow to use all his abilities, intelligence, and enthusiasm, join hands with the Party Executive Committee, the Party Committee of the Ministry, and units in the Ministry, continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, responsibility, creativity, dare to think, dare to do, to lead, direct, and operate in the assigned fields, meeting the practical requirements of the work in the new situation and the trust of the Minister.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam was born in 1981 and started working at the Department of National Economic Synthesis, Ministry of Planning and Investment since 2003. During more than 20 years of working and working at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam has held many important positions, such as: Head of the General Department, Department of National Economic Synthesis; Head of the Secretariat, Ministry Office.

From March 2011 to April 2019, he was appointed and held the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Business Registration Management. In April 2019, he was appointed as Chief of the Ministry's Office. Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam also held the important position of Director of the Department of Local and Territorial Economy, from January 2021 to April 2023; Director of the Department of National Economic Synthesis, from April 2023 to the time of his appointment as Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.

Thus, the Ministry of Planning and Investment currently has 4 Deputy Ministers, including Deputy Ministers: Tran Quoc Phuong, Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Do Thanh Trung and Nguyen Duc Tam. The head is Minister Nguyen Chi Dung.
