Toyota may not have a convertible in its lineup right now, but it still managed to create two in the space of a few weeks. After introducing the Century Convertible SUV to ferry sumo champions around, the Japanese automaker has revealed another convertible in its home country, this time based on the Crown Crossover.
The Crown Convertible first appeared in a video published by the magazineToyota Timesposted. The lower body is from the Crown Crossover, but from the pillar to the roof has been cut away. The result is a convertible that still retains four doors, but the doors have no upper frame. The surface of the rear of the car has also been redesigned, with a black cladding replacing the missing rear glass.
The interior of the 5 seats with light-colored leather is still the original car. However, in the convertible version, passengers will have comfortable headroom. Notably, this car does not have a removable roof, meaning it is completely exposed at any time.
The Crown and Century convertibles are both one-offs.
There is no information about the technical modifications, so the convertible can keep the specifications of the Crown Crossover. The car is equipped with a 2.4-liter turbo gasoline engine and two electric motors, with a combined capacity of 344 horsepower.
