Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has just signed a decree imposing sanctions on 140 entities in the Russian financial sector.

According to Sputniknews, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree imposing sanctions on 140 entities in the Russian financial sector, including the National Payment Card System (NSPK) - the operator of the Mir payment system.

The decree was published on Mr Zelensky's website.

According to the text, sanctions are imposed for a period of 10 years on 96 legal entities and 75 individuals.

In addition to NSPK, the sanctions list also includes money transfer service provider Zolotaya Korona.

Regarding Russia-Ukraine tensions, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on January 13 that there were no preconditions for resuming negotiations on Ukraine and emphasized that Kiev refused to negotiate.

Mr. Peskov said that President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that Russia is ready to contact all countries, including the United States.

He also affirmed that ensuring security for Russia is an indispensable factor in the overall resolution of the Ukraine conflict.
