General Secretary, President To Lam and his wife arrive in Beijing

On the afternoon of August 18, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, left Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province (China) for Beijing to continue their State visit to the People's Republic of China from August 18-20 at the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of China Xi Jinping and his wife.

At exactly 18:40 (local time), the plane carrying General Secretary, President To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation landed at Beijing International Airport.

Welcoming General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at Beijing International Airport, on the Chinese side were Politburo member, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, Foreign Minister Wang Yi; Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hung Ba; a number of department and bureau-level officials and a large number of Chinese people.

On the Vietnamese side, there were officials from the Vietnamese Embassy in China, the Vietnamese community and students studying in China.

In particular, the welcoming ceremony also featured welcoming dance and singing performances by many Chinese youth, teenagers and children.

Beijing International Airport is brightly lit with the Vietnamese and Chinese flags. Two rows of honor guards line the red carpet.

Comrade Wang Yi and Chinese officials warmly welcomed General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

In the evening of the same day, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing, met and talked with embassy staff, community representatives and Vietnamese students in China.

The State visit to the People's Republic of China is the first foreign trip of General Secretary and President To Lam in his new position; it is a particularly important foreign activity between Vietnam and China in 2024, having a great impact on the development trend of relations between the two Parties and the two countries in the long term to come.
