Martyr Pham Hong Thai (1895-1924), native of Hung Nhan commune, now Chau Nhan commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province, was a Vietnamese patriot who sacrificed his life in Guangzhou on June 19, 1924.

Joining the Tam Tam Xa organization founded by Ho Tung Mau and Le Hong Phong in 1924, Pham Hong Thai was assigned to assassinate the Governor General of Indochina Henry Merlin when Merlin visited the Sa Dien concession. Failing to do so, Pham Hong Thai committed suicide by jumping into the Pearl River.

The "Shadian Bombing" event shocked the Chinese press and public opinion at that time, contributing to encouraging the national liberation movement that was emerging throughout Asia.

Respecting and admiring the spirit of self-sacrifice for the country of the great Vietnamese hero, the people of Guangzhou buried him on Nhi Vong Cuong hill, the grave facing the Southwest so that his soul would always yearn for the Fatherland.

Next, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association Headquarters Relic Site, located at house number 13, now 248 and 250, Van Minh Street, Guangzhou City - a place associated with the revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh from 1924 to 1927.

General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, were moved to see photos recording President Ho Chi Minh's years of close association with local people in Guangzhou.

The relic of the headquarters of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association at house number 13 (now 248-250) Van Minh Street, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China is a place associated with the revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh in Guangzhou from 1924 to 1927. House number 13 was the headquarters of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, the predecessor organization of the Communist Party of Vietnam founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc and published the Thanh Nien newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Association's General Department.

Here, Nguyen Ai Quoc opened three political training classes, training Vietnamese revolutionary cadres, with a total of 75 people. He was directly in charge and was the main lecturer. His lectures were collected and published in the book "The Revolutionary Path," a handbook for the activities of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, one of the first theoretical documents of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

In 1971, the house at No. 13 Van Minh Street was decided by the People's Republic of China to be preserved as a memorial site of President Ho Chi Minh, named "Headquarters of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association". The site is under the management of the Guangdong Museum of Revolutionary History and has been ranked as a National Historical and Cultural Relic of China.

In 2002, the Guangzhou City government invested in comprehensively renovating the Relic and inaugurated the Relic on April 30, 2002 on the occasion of the 112th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.

Over the years, the Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum and the Guangzhou Cultural Bureau have preserved and promoted this historical site. The Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association headquarters includes: classrooms, Uncle Ho's room, students' rooms, a kitchen and a display room displaying documents about Uncle Ho's activities in Guangzhou from 1924 to 1927.

The relic is an important red address for Vietnamese people to visit every time they come to Guangzhou, a living testament to Nguyen Ai Quoc's years of active activities in the neighboring country and also an embodiment of the friendship between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam and China.

General Secretary and President To Lam was moved to write in the Guestbook: “The delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam was deeply moved to visit the relic of the headquarters of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association - where beloved President Ho Chi Minh spent his revolutionary years, where the first generations of loyal communists of Vietnam were trained, where the impartial and pure international communist sentiments and the traditional friendship, solidarity, and attachment, “both comrades and brothers” between the two Parties, two countries and peoples of Vietnam and China were witnessed. We sincerely thank the Party and State of China, the Party Committee and the Government of Guangdong Province for always paying attention to preserving and conserving the relic of the headquarters of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association. The friendship between Vietnam and China will forever be green and forever lasting!”
