Fourth body found in Phong Chau bridge collapse

This is the fourth victim found in the Phong Chau bridge collapse.

Immediately afterwards, the Investigation Police Agency (Viet Tri City Police) coordinated with relevant agencies to conduct a crime scene investigation, autopsy and notify the search for the victim's whereabouts in Viet Tri City and neighboring areas, and at the same time notify the victim's families for identification.

At 11:30 a.m. the same day, the family and authorities identified the victim as Duong Cong Chien (born in 1981, residing in Zone 8, Dan Thuong, Ha Hoa, Phu Tho) who was the driver of the 19H-042.12 tractor-trailer truck in the Phong Chau bridge collapse incident. Afterwards, the Viet Tri City Police Investigation Agency handed over the victim's body to the family for burial according to local customs.

Earlier, on the afternoon of September 20, Phu Tho Province authorities continued to salvage and search for victims of the Phong Chau Bridge collapse. While salvaging the tractor-trailer, authorities discovered a body in the cabin.

The collapse of Phong Chau bridge at Km18+300 of National Highway 32C (connecting Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts) occurred at around 10:00 a.m. on September 9, sweeping away pillar T7 and 2 main spans (spans 6 and 7 on the right bank of Thao River, in Tam Nong district). Initial preliminary determination was that at the time of the incident, there were 10 vehicles moving on the bridge (including 1 truck, 2 tractor-trailers, 6 motorbikes, 1 electric motorbike); 8 people were missing; 3 injured people were rescued and taken to a medical facility for emergency treatment.
