Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just issued a telegram requesting urgent research and investment in the construction of a new Phong Chau bridge on National Highway 32C connecting Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts, Phu Tho province.
Telegram sent to Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee; Ministers of: Planning and Investment; Finance; Transport; Agriculture and Rural Development.
In the telegram, the Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of Phu Tho province to take the lead and urgently coordinate with the Ministry of Transport and relevant agencies to immediately conduct research, survey, and complete investment preparation procedures for the project to build a new Phong Chau bridge on National Highway 32C, ensuring solidity and safety in all flood and rain conditions; and report to competent authorities before October 1, 2024.
The Prime Minister assigned the Ministers of Transport, Agriculture and Rural Development, Planning and Investment, and Finance to direct, closely coordinate, and proactively guide Phu Tho province to complete the project investment preparation procedures as soon as possible; balance and arrange capital sources to implement the project, and report to the Prime Minister before September 20, 2024.
The Government Office, according to its assigned functions and tasks, monitors and urges ministries and agencies to promptly carry out the tasks assigned in this dispatch and promptly reports to the Prime Minister on arising issues.
Previously, on September 9, the rising water level on the Red River caused the collapse of Phong Chau Bridge, causing huge losses in human lives and property and disrupting traffic on National Highway 32C. The Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 89/CD-TTg dated September 9, 2024, directing the overcoming of the consequences of the bridge collapse and ensuring safe traffic operations during the flood season, especially in the Northwestern provinces.
