The body of victim Luong Xuan Thanh (56 years old) was just found on the Red River, about 10km from the scene of the Phong Chau bridge collapse.
At around 11am on September 16, the Phu Tho Provincial Police rescue team discovered a male body on the Red River, in Zone 10, Ban Nguyen Commune, Lam Thao District. This location is about 10km from the scene of the Phong Chau Bridge collapse.
Through identification, the family of the victim Luong Xuan Thanh (56 years old, living in Zone 1, Thach Dong Commune, Thanh Thuy District) confirmed that this was the body of Mr. Thanh. Based on the family's wishes, after completing the autopsy procedures, the police handed over the body to the family for funeral arrangements.
Thus, up to now, the rescue team has found 2 missing victims in the Phong Chau bridge collapse. Among them, victim Luong Xuan Thanh is the husband of victim Nguyen Thi Huong whose body was found on September 14.
At around 10:00 a.m. on September 9, Phong Chau bridge connecting Lam Thao and Tam Nong districts suddenly collapsed, causing two bridge piers to fall into the Red River.
According to the report of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, at the time the bridge collapsed, there were 8 vehicles passing through (1 truck, 2 tractor-trailers, 6 motorbikes, 1 electric motorbike), 8 people were confirmed missing.
On the evening of September 14, rescue forces discovered the first victim’s body floating on the Red River, in Vinh Lai Commune, Lam Thao District. This victim was identified as Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (born in 1976, in Thach Dong Commune, Thanh Thuy District).
