Dr. Truong Thanh Tung from Hai Duong is the youngest candidate for associate professor in the field of pharmacy.

According to the list of candidates proposed by the Pharmacy Professor Council for consideration and recognition of meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2024, Dr. Truong Thanh Tung (born December 5, 1989) is the youngest candidate for associate professor.

Dr. Truong Thanh Tung is from Thanh Giang commune, Thanh Mien district (Hai Duong). Currently, Dr. Truong Thanh Tung is a lecturer in the Department of Basic Science and Pharmaceutical Foundations, Phenikaa University; at the same time, he is the leader of a potential research group; Secretary of the Pharmacy Faculty Youth Union; Standing member of the Executive Committee of the Youth Union at Phenikaa University.

According to the application for recognition of meeting the standards for the title of associate professor, in 2012, Mr. Truong Thanh Tung graduated with a bachelor's degree in General Pharmacy (Pharmacy) from Hanoi University of Pharmacy, Vietnam.

In 2014, Mr. Tung received a master's degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Seoul National University, Korea.

In 2018, Mr. Truong Thanh Tung was awarded a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

The work process of the youngest associate professor candidate in Pharmacy in 2024 is as follows:

From December 2014 to December 2017: Mr. Tung was a lecturer and a PhD student at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

From January 2018 to December 2018: Mr. Tung did postdoctoral research at Aarhus University, Denmark.

From December 2018 to December 2019: He was a research assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh, USA, under the funding of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

In December 2019, Mr. Tung returned to Vietnam to work as Research Director at Phenikaa Advanced Research Institute, lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Phenikaa University. In January 2022, he was appointed as the head of the potential research group "Drug Design and Synthesis", Phenikaa University.

During his research, Dr. Truong Thanh Tung published 48 scientific articles, of which 40 were in prestigious international journals.

Of these, there are 11 scientific articles published in prestigious international scientific journals in which the candidate is the main author after becoming a doctor.

In addition, Mr. Tung has completed a number of scientific research topics from the grassroots level and above, specifically: he is the head of 2 grassroots level topics and a member of 4 other topics (State level, Ministry level, grassroots level).

Notably, Dr. Truong Thanh Tung is the main co-author of a patent for invention and utility solution, granted on April 14, 2014. At the same time, the candidate has also published a book with a reputable publisher.

In addition, during his work, Dr. Truong Thanh Tung has guided a graduate student to successfully defend his master's thesis and is guiding another graduate student to complete his master's thesis. At the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, Dr. Tung has also successfully co-supervised 4 other graduate students.

In his research work, Dr. Truong Thanh Tung focuses on three main research directions:

Research direction 1: Development of new chemical reactions applied to drug synthesis, with application directions for the pharmaceutical raw material production industry.

Research direction 2: Research and development of new drugs and targeted drugs.

Research direction 3: Research and development of new reactions, synthesis and monitoring of the activity of Fluoro and radioactive Fluoro derivatives used in clinical practice, application direction in clinical research for diagnosis and radiotherapy of cancer (Chemotherapy). At the same time, develop clinical pharmacology studies of drugs as a basis for drug development.

Dr. Truong Thanh Tung also presided over or participated in building and developing a number of training programs or research programs/projects/topics, applying science and technology of higher education institutions that have been put into practical application.

In the application for recognition of meeting the standards for the title of associate professor in 2024 of this candidate, it is stated: With 11 years of participating in scientific research and 9 years of participating in training from university level and above, the candidate self-assesses that he/she has met the requirements on standards and tasks of a teacher according to the standards for the title of associate professor in Decision No. 37/2018/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister dated August 31, 2018 promulgating regulations on standards and procedures for considering recognition of meeting the standards and appointing the titles of professor and associate professor; procedures for considering cancellation of recognition of the title and dismissal of the titles of professor and associate professor".
