Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant closes 2 bottom spillway gates, Hai Duong requires ensuring downstream safety

The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue has just sent a document to relevant units requesting to ensure safety downstream when Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant closes two bottom spillway gates.

The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of districts, cities and towns; relevant departments, branches and units notify authorities at all levels, people and organizations operating on rivers and along rivers to take proactive measures to ensure safety and adjust activities accordingly; do not let people go to areas at risk of landslides or construction sites to avoid unfortunate losses.

Continue to closely monitor embankments and landslides, especially structures that are showing signs of damage or landslides, to promptly detect and handle incidents that occur.

The provincial Hydrometeorological Station closely monitors flood levels on rivers and promptly reports to provincial leaders, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, and People's Committees of districts, cities, and towns to proactively direct response and overcome consequences caused by natural disasters.

Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development ordered the closure of a bottom spillway gate of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir at 1:00 a.m. this morning, September 23. At 7:00 a.m. the same day, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development ordered the Director of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Company to close another spillway gate.

At 5:00 a.m. on September 23, the upstream water level of Hoa Binh Lake was at 116.79 m, the inflow to the lake was 414 m3/s, and the discharge was 5,658 m3/s.
