On September 9, Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson announced that the country will send the 17th aid package, worth 4.6 billion krona ($443 million), to Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters, Defence Minister Pal Jonson said the new aid package would include ammunition for infantry fighting vehicles that the country has already donated to Ukraine, as well as procurement deals to facilitate the future delivery of Gripen fighter jets, although no decision has been made on this yet. He stressed that he also wanted to provide Ukraine with Gripen fighter jets, warships, missiles, camouflage equipment and support for defence procurement for Ukraine at a later stage, and that these measures would be decided in close cooperation with Kiev.
The new aid package brings Sweden's total aid to Kiev to around $10 billion since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
