Prime Minister arrives in Dubai, begins COP28 attendance and bilateral activities in UAE

After successfully concluding the official visit to Türkiye, at 22:40 on November 30 (local time), the plane carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife Le Thi Bich Tran and the Vietnamese delegation arrived at Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai city to begin a working trip to attend the World Climate Action Summit within the framework of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), combined with bilateral activities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from November 30 to December 3, at the invitation of the UAE Government.

At the airport to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Prime Minister's wife and the Vietnamese delegation were representatives of the COP28 Organizing Committee; representatives of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the UAE Prime Minister's Liaison Officer; Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE Nguyen Manh Tuan; officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in the UAE.

During his working program in the UAE, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is expected to attend and speak at important conferences, forums, and discussion sessions within the framework of COP28; and have bilateral meetings with leaders of countries and international organizations. Along with that, the Prime Minister will have bilateral activities with the UAE.

The Prime Minister's participation in the COP28 Conference sends a strong message to international friends about a proactive, positive, and responsible Vietnam in participating in handling one of the biggest and most concerned global challenges today: climate change; at the same time, affirming Vietnam's role and position in regional and international cooperation frameworks; affirming Vietnam's consistent policy on building a green economy, a circular economy, and proactively responding to climate change.

With the UAE, after 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations (1993-2023), the cooperative relationship between the two countries is developing well; both sides wish to strengthen cooperation in all fields.

Recently, the two sides have regularly exchanged delegations at all levels and regularly supported each other at international forums and organizations.

The UAE is Vietnam's leading trade and investment partner in the Middle East, with turnover in recent years always reaching approximately 5 billion USD.

The UAE is one of the major investors in Vietnam, with 38 projects. Vietnam currently has about 4,500 workers working in the UAE.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to attend COP28 and conduct a number of bilateral activities in the UAE is of great significance, affirming Vietnam's consistent policy on green growth and climate change response; affirming Vietnam's role and position in regional and international cooperation frameworks; and contributing to strengthening political trust and improving the effectiveness of cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE.
