THANK YOU LETTER

Dear Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong,
General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam,

Dear Comrade General Secretary,

On behalf of the Party, State and people of China, I sincerely thank you for sending your condolences on the passing of Comrade Jiang Zemin, and at the same time convey to you the thanks of Comrade Jiang Zemin's family.

Comrade Jiang Zemin, together with Vietnamese leaders, promoted the normalization of China-Vietnam relations and established the 16-word motto of "good neighborly friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, and looking toward the future", which has had a profound influence on the development of China-Vietnam relations.

Recently, Comrade General Secretary had a very successful visit to China. Together we discussed major orientations for the development of China-Vietnam relations and reached important common understandings. I attach great importance to the development of China-Vietnam relations and am ready to work with Comrade to promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam in the new era to new heights.
