Establishment of Dong Trieu city bordering Hai Duong

According to the content of the Government's proposal, 8 commune-level administrative units of Dong Trieu town will be arranged and established. Specifically, Tan Viet commune and Viet Dan commune will be merged into the new Viet Dan commune; Dong Trieu ward and Duc Chinh ward will be merged into the new Duc Chinh ward; 4 wards will be established on the basis of the original status of 4 communes Binh Duong, Thuy An, Binh Khe, Yen Duc.

After the arrangement and establishment of 8 commune-level administrative units, Dong Trieu town was reduced from 21 units (10 wards, 11 communes) to 19 units (13 wards, 6 communes). After the establishment of 4 wards, the urban population of Dong Trieu town was 203,193 people, accounting for 81.64% of the town's population.

Quang Ninh province has no change in natural area and population size; 1 city increased, 1 town decreased (from 7 districts, 2 towns, 4 cities to 7 districts, 1 town, 5 cities).

After the establishment of Dong Trieu City, Quang Ninh will be one of the two provinces with the most cities in the country (along with Binh Duong). The plan to establish Dong Trieu City of Quang Ninh province is in accordance with the relevant planning approved by competent authorities according to regulations.

Dong Trieu City (Quang Ninh) borders Hai Duong province in Chi Linh City and Kinh Mon town. Historically, Dong Trieu used to belong to Hai Duong.
