The Prime Minister affirmed that the Party and State always create the best conditions for overseas Vietnamese to contribute to building and developing the country.
Also attending the meeting were members of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on an official visit to the French Republic, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang, Vietnamese ambassadors and representatives of the Vietnamese community in many European countries.
Speaking at the meeting, representatives of the Vietnamese community in European countries expressed their appreciation for the special working trip to the UK and France by the Prime Minister and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, which achieved many good results. The trip brought about concrete results, which were highly appreciated by international public opinion.
Overseas Vietnamese were moved and grateful for the attention of Party and State leaders to the Vietnamese community abroad.
Delegates reported on the situation of life, study, living and working in the host country; affirmed national pride, deep affection for the homeland and country with practical, specific actions, especially in the work of preventing and fighting the COVID-19 epidemic in the recent past; expressed confidence in the strong development and increasingly better future of the country in the coming period.
Many delegates made recommendations, proposals and suggestions to the leaders of the Party, State, ministries and branches, especially in removing obstacles in investment procedures and creating better conditions for overseas Vietnamese to return to the Fatherland, contributing to the construction and development of the country...
Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister was moved to say that he deeply felt the deep and warm feelings of overseas Vietnamese who attended the meeting from faraway places in the complicated epidemic conditions, with heartfelt and responsible speeches towards their homeland, country and compatriots.
The Prime Minister recalled the verse “Each person has only one homeland/Like only one mother” and the nation’s folk tales with important and profound lessons such as Saint Giong (about the spirit and strength of fighting against foreign invaders), the story of Lac Long Quan-Au Co (about the spirit of national solidarity), the story of Son Tinh-Thuy Tinh (about the spirit and experience of responding to natural disasters and floods), the story of My Chau (the spirit of vigilance against enemies), the story of Tam Cam or Thach Sanh (honoring hardworking and honest workers)…
The Prime Minister said that our people and our ancestors throughout history have flexibly and creatively applied and promoted those lessons and long-standing traditional values in a way that is suitable for each historical period.
According to the Prime Minister, our country has gone through ups and downs, challenges, major historical events, prolonged wars, embargoes, and then started the renovation process since 1986. From the very difficult time when we started the renovation, "we did not make enough to eat, we did not export enough to import, we did not earn enough to spend," until now, we have developed the country with the 4th largest GDP in ASEAN, an average income per capita of 3,500 USD, a new position and respect from the international community.
Analyzing and clarifying this further, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also shared the results of the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation's participation in recent events such as the ASEAN Summit, the 26th Summit of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) in the UK, as well as the results of the official visit to the French Republic.
The Prime Minister also said that the Government is synchronously developing and implementing comprehensive programs on safe and flexible adaptation, effective disease control, economic recovery and development programs, economic restructuring programs and promoting green growth, etc.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Vietnamese community abroad is very strong and has very important connections with the country. When working with leaders of any country, the Prime Minister also requested attention, creating conditions and opportunities for Vietnamese people to stabilize their lives, contribute to the friendship between the two countries and build the host country.
“It is very gratifying that wherever we go, we can prove that people everywhere praise the Vietnamese people for being hard-working, intelligent, flexible, and overcoming difficulties. Our tradition is that in every difficult and challenging moment, we strive to rise up, overcome, and assert ourselves. This has been nurtured through historical periods, from patriotism, love for the people, from the spirit and strength of solidarity," the Prime Minister emotionally shared.
The Prime Minister stated that the Party and State always consider overseas Vietnamese an important and inseparable part, a driving force for the country's development. This is demonstrated through Resolution No. 36, Directive No. 45 and recently Conclusion No. 12 of the Politburo on work with overseas Vietnamese, which is institutionalized by legal regulations.
The Prime Minister expressed that in the coming time, what the Party and State most desire is for overseas Vietnamese to continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and unity, "love the gourd and the squash," while at the same time remaining attached to the host country, contributing to implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization of foreign relations; proactively and actively integrating comprehensively and deeply into the international community; being a friend, a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community.

Along with that, the Prime Minister expressed his hope that the people would continue to maintain and promote national pride and confidence, overcome all difficulties and challenges to rise up and assert themselves; contribute to strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and the host country; build a prosperous and happy life for each person and each family and contribute to building the country as well as the host country.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Prime Minister thanked the overseas Vietnamese community for their contributions to the country's development in general and in natural disaster prevention, climate change response and disease prevention in particular. Despite the difficulties, the overseas Vietnamese always turn to the Fatherland.
Regarding the delegates' recommendations, the Prime Minister assigned relevant agencies to study appropriate solutions, ensuring compliance with the law and creating the most favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese.
The Prime Minister said that the proposals on teaching and learning Vietnamese are very legitimate, and this can be done through simple but meaningful stories of the nation, clearly expressing Vietnamese identity.
The Prime Minister suggested that "it is necessary to study and resolve recommendations in a substantive manner, combining words with actions, not just words without action," in the spirit of "speaking the truth, thinking the truth, doing the truth, achieving real results, and allowing people to enjoy real results."
After the Prime Minister's speech, many overseas Vietnamese attending the meeting responded enthusiastically with strong applause and said goodbye with tight and warm handshakes.
