Create favorable conditions for people to go to Laos to work

At La Lay International Border Gate, Dakrong mountainous district, every day hundreds of people from Nghe An, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Tri provinces... complete exit procedures to Laos to work. The people are mainly of working age, including both women and men, carrying a lot of luggage, some even bring their children to Laos to work. Here, the authorities create favorable conditions and support for people to get to Lao localities as quickly as possible.

For the past 10 years, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Nga (in Phu Loc district, Thua Thien - Hue province) has been working in Sekong province of Laos after Tet. Ms. Nga said that in previous years, work in Laos was more favorable. Recently, due to the impact of Covid-19 and the generally unfavorable economic situation, work has become more difficult. The work in Laos is still being maintained and the income is enough to cover living expenses, so in early 2024, she will continue to complete procedures to go to the neighboring country to live and do business.

From February 15 to 29, more than 24,000 people, concentrated in the provinces of the North Central region, went to Laos to work, mainly through the two international border gates of La Lay and Lao Bao. According to the representative of the Border Guard Station of La Lay International Border Gate, people brought all the necessary documents to the border gate to complete exit procedures, which only took a very short time to complete. People going to Laos mainly do business, garment; work in rubber care and tapping facilities; construction; mining ores, especially coal.

According to Colonel Le Van Phuong, Commander of the Quang Tri Border Guard Command, since the Lunar New Year until now, on average, each day there are about 1,900 - 2,000 people completing exit procedures to other countries, especially to Laos to work, an increase of 200 - 300 people compared to normal days, concentrated at the two international border gates of La Lay and Lao Bao.
