Launching of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's book on foreign affairs

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission Truong Thi Mai emphasized: General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's book on foreign affairs was launched at a very important time. Our country has gone through more than half of the 13th National Congress term, is making efforts, being united, seizing every opportunity, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

The publication of the book by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong further shows that our Party always considers foreign affairs as essential, regular, and an important task of the entire political system, with a great role and contribution in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, comrade Truong Thi Mai affirmed.

Standing member of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai emphasized that the publication of this book by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has summarized the core ideas of Vietnam's foreign affairs and diplomacy throughout thousands of years of national history, with the peak being the diplomacy of the Ho Chi Minh era, along with the Vietnamese diplomatic methodology in assessing the world situation, identifying the characteristics of the times, opportunities and challenges for Vietnam in each historical period...

The book of the General Secretary has looked back throughout the history of the nation, especially over the past 90 years under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, clearly showing that we have inherited and promoted national traditions, absorbed the quintessence of humanity, developed on the ideological foundation of the Party, which is Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought, thereby forming a very special and unique school of foreign affairs and diplomacy in the Ho Chi Minh era, imbued with the identity of "Vietnamese bamboo". It can be said that the book is the most massive, elaborate and vivid work clarifying the unique and consistent identity of Vietnam's foreign affairs and diplomacy.

For international friends, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai said that the book will be a valuable reference for those who want to learn about Vietnam's foreign policies and guidelines and a clear demonstration of the Party and State's steadfastness and consistency in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, development, diversification and multilateralization. The book's content also shows the agreement and support of experts, politicians, diplomats and international friends for the role and contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to foreign affairs in recent years.

Standing member of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai suggested that immediately after the book launch ceremony, the Central Propaganda Department should preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central External Relations Commission, the National Political Publishing House Truth and press agencies to focus on promoting and introducing the book's content to a large number of cadres, party members, people of all walks of life, and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad; and translate it into foreign languages ​​so that international friends can better understand the value of the book, Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, and international integration.

Party committees and organizations at all levels, especially agencies working on foreign affairs and diplomacy, should soon organize for cadres and party members to read, study and thoroughly grasp the content of the book. Party cells should hold specialized activities on the content of the book. The national education system, especially academies, political schools, universities and colleges nationwide, should develop learning and research materials on foreign affairs and diplomacy based on the content of the book, clarifying the development of our Party's awareness and theory on foreign affairs and diplomacy; general goals, mottos, thoughts, actions and tasks, solutions for foreign affairs orientation in the coming time.

Party committees, party organizations, sectors and localities need to properly and appropriately apply the lessons learned from the process of leading and directing foreign affairs and diplomacy mentioned in the book; contributing to the synchronous and effective implementation of foreign affairs tasks in the coming time...

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said that the content of the articles and speeches in the book have been distilled and summarized from the General Secretary's profound theoretical research and rich revolutionary practical activities; demonstrating his strategic vision, clear-sighted intelligence, close and correct leadership and direction for foreign affairs and diplomacy, contributing to the development of our Party's theoretical thinking on foreign affairs and international integration.

The book is truly a valuable document in theory and practice, a valuable handbook on foreign affairs for foreign affairs staff of all sectors, levels and in the entire political system - the Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

The book consists of three parts. Part 1: The important role and great contribution of foreign affairs in the cause of national construction and defense, including an overview article and 7 speeches by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the Party Central Committee conferences, diplomatic conferences, and national foreign affairs conferences. The articles and speeches demonstrate the strategic thinking of the head of our Party on Vietnam's foreign affairs and diplomacy. Based on the assessment of the results and achievements of foreign affairs and diplomacy that have "contributed significantly to the common, great, and historically significant achievements of our country", thanks to which "Vietnam's position and prestige have been increasingly enhanced in the international arena", the General Secretary pointed out the goals, tasks, and orientations for foreign affairs to meet the requirements of the tasks in the new situation.

Part two: Vietnam's foreign relations for independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, including 78 speeches, articles, addresses, interviews, letters, telegrams... of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at bilateral and multilateral diplomatic activities and forums, demonstrating the close and harmonious coordination between the pillars of foreign affairs: party diplomacy, state diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy.

Through the stages, in the positions of Chairman of the National Assembly, General Secretary, General Secretary - President, the articles and speeches of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong expressed the viewpoints and foreign policy in the new development stage of the country, synchronously, creatively and effectively implementing foreign affairs activities, proactively and actively integrating comprehensively and deeply into the world. Vietnam has had open bilateral and multilateral cooperation with partners, in all fields, at all levels and sectors, bringing foreign relations into depth, stability, effectiveness, substance, increasing political trust and intertwining interests; mobilize and effectively combine external resources with domestic resources to proactively participate, actively contribute, and "enhance Vietnam's role in building and shaping multilateral institutions and international political and economic order" for the national and ethnic interests and the common interests of the international community on the basis of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.

Part 3: Foreign affairs and diplomacy imprints, including 52 opinions of experts, politicians, diplomats, researchers, and international friends on the role and contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in the formation and development of Vietnam's comprehensive and modern foreign policy, imbued with the identity of "Vietnamese bamboo". Memories, impressions, or stories of ambassadors, officials working in foreign affairs and diplomacy, journalists, and overseas Vietnamese who accompanied and met General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong during his visits and work at home and abroad, expressing their affection, respect, and trust in the leadership of the Party and the General Secretary.
