Quan Van Chuan completed his sentence and was allowed to play in the opening match of the U23 Asian Cup Finals.

According to information from the Vietnam Football Federation, Quan Van Chuan is eligible to play in the opening match of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship finals.

Previously, there was information that Quan Van Chuan was about to be suspended for the first two matches in the group stage of the upcoming tournament because he received a red card at the 2022 AFC U23 Championship finals. At that time, the goalkeeper of Hanoi FC was sent off the field in the quarter-final match against U23 Saudi Arabia.

However, this penalty of Quan Van Chuan is included in the framework of the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers that took place in September last year. That is the tournament that Van Chuan did not participate in. His 2-match suspension is the reason why coach Troussier did not include his name in the qualifying list.

In the 2023 U23 Asian qualifiers, the French coach used 3 goalkeepers: Nguyen Van Viet, Cao Van Binh and Doan Huy Hoang.

Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet played the first two matches against U23 Guam and U23 Yemen. When the U23 Vietnam team secured their place in the next round after the first two matches, goalkeeper Cao Van Binh was given the opportunity to play in the final match against U23 Singapore.

In the 2024 U23 Asian finals, coach Hoang Anh Tuan preliminarily registered 4 goalkeepers: Quan Van Chuan, Nguyen Van Viet, Tran Trung Kien and Doan Huy Hoang.

According to the list of 23 U23 Vietnam players participating in the tournament announced by AFC, goalkeeper Doan Huy Hoang was eliminated. However, this is not the final list. On April 16, coach Hoang Anh Tuan will finalize the official list of players participating in the tournament.

The No. 1 position in the U23 Vietnam goal is likely to be a competition between Nguyen Van Viet and Quan Van Chuan. In the friendly match with U23 Jordan in the early morning of April 11, Van Viet was in the starting lineup.

U23 Vietnam drew goalless with their West Asian opponent after 90 minutes. U23 Jordan won 4-3 in the penalty shootout.

The friendly match is an opportunity for coach Hoang Anh Tuan to observe and evaluate the players' performance before making adjustments. On April 17, U23 Vietnam will play its opening match against U23 Kuwait. After that, coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team will face U23 Malaysia (April 20) and U23 Uzbekistan (April 23).
