According to culinary researcher Janet Clarkson, author ofSoup: A Global History(Global History of Soup), soup is one of the oldest and most popular foods in the world. Each country will have its own unique soups, which are popular with international tourists.
Based on Janet's research,CNNhas nominated the 20 best soups in the world (in alphabetical order) as a suggestion for tourists. In the list, the definition of soup is broader, only dishes with water or stewed in water. And the broth must have a delicious flavor, which is an important ingredient that determines the deliciousness of the dish.
Vietnamese beef pho has a broth that is simmered for many hours with cinnamon, star anise, and other spices that warm the body to create a "wonderful aroma" for the dish. Pho is also the most internationally known dish in Vietnamese cuisine.
Vietnam has many versions of pho such as beef pho, chicken pho, kidney pho, red wine sauce pho, stir-fried pho. However, the most original and most popular is still rare beef pho. The list of top 20 best soups in the world is updated continuously over the years, most of the dishes in the top do not change over the years, showing the love of tourists for traditional dishes of each country. This year, the top 20 was first announced in January and the list was updated on November 17.
