Approved planning for airport 25 km from Hai Duong city, able to receive large aircraft

Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh has just issued a decision approving the planning of Gia Binh International Airport for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

According to the plan, Gia Binh International Airport in Gia Binh district, Bac Ninh province is an airport for shared civil and security use.

In the period 2021 - 2030, Gia Binh International Airport will have a capacity of about one million passengers/year and 250,000 tons of cargo/year.

The types of aircraft used include Boeing 787, Airbus 350 (large aircraft), Boeing 777, A321 and other special purpose aircraft. Regarding the runway system, the runway is planned to be 3,500 m x 45 m in size; the material margin size is according to regulations.

The Ministry of Transport also plans a helicopter parking system to serve the People's Public Security Air Force Regiment; plans an aircraft parking area in the civil aviation area to serve special aircraft and civil aviation aircraft with about 11 parking positions.

By 2050, Gia Binh International Airport will have a capacity of about 3 million passengers/year and one million tons of cargo/year.

During this period, the runway system will maintain the runway configuration that was planned for the 2021-2030 period. Regarding the aircraft parking lot, the civil aviation area's aircraft parking lot will be expanded to accommodate about 26 parking positions.

The Ministry of Transport also plans the land use demand for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 of Gia Binh International Airport, about 363.5 hectares of security land.

To implement, the Ministry of Transport assigned the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to be responsible for studying and receiving the appraisal report of the Department of Planning and Investment to complete the planning dossier; preside over and coordinate with the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province and relevant agencies to organize the announcement, management and implementation of the planning according to regulations.

The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province is responsible for reviewing and updating the above planning contents into the local planning and related planning; arranging and protecting land funds in accordance with the approved planning, having plans for planning and land use plans to ensure that land funds are ready to meet the needs of expansion development according to the planning; completing the planning and investing in the traffic route connecting the airport with the capital Hanoi to ensure the exploitation and connection capacity of Gia Binh International Airport.
