On the morning of October 4, the Hai Duong Provincial Association of People with Disabilities held its 3rd Congress for the 2024-2029 term, with the participation of 100 delegates representing about 2,500 disabled members in the province.
In the 2018-2023 term, the province will have 500 more members, bringing the total number of members to 2,500; establish the Association of People with Disabilities in Kinh Mon town, bringing the total number to 6 district-level associations.
Every year, on holidays and anniversaries, the association at all levels mobilizes sponsors to visit and give gifts to more than 1,000 disabled people in difficult circumstances, each gift worth 300,000 - 500,000 VND. During the past term, the association at all levels has supported food and provisions for hundreds of disabled people and their families in difficult circumstances during the Covid-19 period; repaired and built 4 charity houses for disabled people in difficult circumstances; donated 3 wheelchairs to members; installed 21 prosthetic limbs worth more than 200 million VND for members.
Some programs sponsored by organizations are implemented effectively.
In the coming term, the Provincial Association of the Disabled strives to establish 1-2 more district-level associations and 2-4 commune-level associations each year; 25% of key staff are female disabled people; 85% of core staff working for the association have their awareness raised through training and coaching programs. Actively mobilize sponsorship to support the fund, give gifts to members; seek support, approach organizations and individuals to create jobs and livelihoods for members...
The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Provincial Association of the Disabled for the 2024-2029 term, consisting of 15 members. At the first meeting, the Executive Committee unanimously elected Mr. Nguyen Duc Van, Vice President of the Hai Duong Provincial Association of the Disabled for the 2018-2023 term, to hold the position of President of the Association. Mr. Van was born in 1984, has a leg disability, and is currently the owner of a computer and wheelchair business.
On this occasion, many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the movement to build and develop the Association of People with Disabilities in Hai Duong were awarded certificates of merit and certificates of merit by the Vietnam Association of People with Disabilities, Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Duong Province, and the Provincial Association of People with Disabilities.
