Since August, the Hai Duong Province Association of the Disabled has coordinated to complete free prosthetic limbs for 24 disabled people in the province.
Of these, 21 people were fitted with prosthetic legs and 3 people were fitted with prosthetic arms. These are mainly disabled people who have suffered from work accidents, traffic accidents and post-war bombs and mines. The prosthetic legs and arms were supported and fitted directly to the disabled by the Center for Consulting and Assisting with Orthopedic Devices for the Disabled (Hanoi). Each prosthetic leg costs more than 20 million VND, and each prosthetic arm costs about 15 million VND.
To date, the Hai Duong Association for the Disabled has coordinated to provide free prosthetic limbs to 44 disabled people in Hai Duong. It is expected that by the end of the year, prosthetic limbs will be provided to about 10 more disabled people in the province.
The program helps people with disabilities to be confident, move around easily and be able to work, reducing the burden on their families.
