"Oppenheimer" wins 8 Critics' Choice Awards

"Oppenheimer" - Nolan's film about the "father" of the atomic bomb - won the most Critics' Choice Awards 2024, including Best Picture.

At the program held in Los Angeles on the morning of January 15 (Hanoi time), the work won eight awards out of 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Director (Christopher Nolan), Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.), Cast, Cinematography, Film Editing, Effects and Music.

"Oppenheimer" has a budget of 100 million USD, is considered by critics as one of the best films of the year, and has many chances to win an Oscar.

In the television nominations, the series "Succession" won three awards out of five, including Best Drama and Best Actor and Actress. The series revolves around four children in a wealthy family who take over their father's corporation after his death.

"The Bear" won four awards, including Best Comedy Series, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. Meanwhile, "Beef" won Best Limited Series. The series' cast - Steven Yeun and Ali Wong - won Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively.

During the event, actor Harrison Ford was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. America Ferrera received the SeeHer Award - honoring actresses who advocate for gender equality and have made breakthrough performances on screen.

The Critics' Choice Awards are chosen by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, which includes critics from nearly 200 television and radio stations in the United States and Canada, and were first held in 1995. Last year, "Everything Everywhere All at Once" was honored in the category of Outstanding Film.
