Trump: 'I will act with historic speed and power'

At a rally in Washington on January 19, President-elect Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk, whom he chose to lead the Government Performance Council, vowed to "do great things and make America great for centuries."

President-elect Trump has vowed to “reverse the practice of excessive secrecy” on government documents, apparently referring to the indictment against him for keeping classified documents after leaving office. He has vowed to release classified documents related to the assassinations of former President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr.

Mr Trump also reiterated his pledge to "save TikTok", after making the call on social media. "We have no choice, we have to save this platform. There is a lot of work to do," he said.

TikTok stopped operating in the US on January 19 after the national security ban took effect. The app announced that it was in the process of restoring service in the US, thanking Mr. Trump for "providing the necessary assurances" that service providers would not be penalized for allowing Americans to access it.

Due to severe weather conditions, Mr. Trump's inauguration will take place indoors on Capitol Hill instead of outdoors as usual, marking the first time the event has been held indoors since 1985. Mr. Trump affirmed on January 18 that this was the right decision to avoid danger to those attending the event.

President-elect Trump and his family arrived in Washington on the evening of January 18, to join supporters and guests in a series of celebratory events before the inauguration. His family traveled from Florida to Washington by military plane under the orders of President Joe Biden.
