The central road leading to the village cultural house is also busier and more cheerful than before, with bright smiles on the faces of every villager. For the people of Ban Trai village, today is the first "unity meal" after the merger of Bo Ban and Trai San villages last year. After the merger, Ban Trai village has over 300 households with more than 1,000 people.

In a joyful and exciting atmosphere, all four members of Mr. Nguyen Van Le's family in Dong hamlet, Ban Trai village attended the National Great Unity Day. Mr. Le shared: "In previous years, I attended every solidarity meal, but the village had few households so it was only organized on a small scale. This year, the village merged, the solidarity meal was more crowded and joyful than before, many children from far away also came back to attend. The homeland is changing, the economy is growing more and more. All of us are happy and excited."

For many days, the cultural house of Trai Trong residential area, Hoang Tien ward (Chi Linh city) has been filled with the singing of women preparing for the National Great Unity Day. Putting aside their daily work and busyness, everyone enthusiastically participated in the activities. When the festival was held, everyone from the elderly to the children were happy and excited.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Quynh, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Trai Trong residential area, said that the residential area is located on the border with Quang Ninh province. Since the 1960s, Trai Trong has been an abandoned land with no residents. Afterwards, people from Ninh Giang and Ha Bac districts (Bac Giang province) came to settle down. Therefore, the people here always support and help each other to develop the economy. "After 10 years, Trai Trong residential area was chosen as the venue for the festival of Hoang Tien ward. The preparations for the festival were enthusiastically responded to by the people. Through the festival, the relationship between the villagers became more connected, helping each other to develop the economy," said Mr. Quynh.

The National Great Unity Day in Xa Son village, Quang Thanh commune (Kinh Mon) also took place joyfully and bustlingly. Village roads and alleys were brightly colored with national flags, banners and slogans. All of this created an exciting and bustling atmosphere that spread to families.

Mr. Hoang Gia Luc, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Xa Son Village, said that in preparation for the festival, since the beginning of November, the village has held meetings many times to assign tasks to sub-committees. In addition to the "Great Unity Meal", the village also organizes many activities such as fishing, women's soccer, and organizing a ceremony to worship the village guardian spirit... The activities take place over 2 days. As it is a big festival, everyone in the village wants to contribute a little effort to make the festival fun, thoughtful, and truly a festival for the whole people.

“Every year we organize a solemn solidarity festival in a joyful and exciting spirit. Cultural and artistic activities are widely responded to by the people. The festival not only brings a warm and harmonious atmosphere of village love but is also a place for people to compete and promote the patriotic emulation movement,” Mr. Luc excitedly shared.

Despite being busy with work, Mr. Ngo Quoc Tu (Hanoi) still arranged to attend the festival in Xa Son village upon receiving the invitation. “In recent years, I have attended every Great Unity Festival in my village. Seeing our homeland develop more and more, we, the children far from home, are very excited,” said Mr. Tu.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Thuong, Head of the Movement Committee, Hai Duong Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, said that although all villages and residential areas in the province were affected by storm No. 3, this year's National Great Unity Day was organized carefully in both content and form. At the same time, it ensured thrift but was still solemn and warm, bringing joy to the people. This year, the organization of the festival in many places coincided with the election of village and residential area chiefs, but was still carefully prepared.

A very special highlight of the festival is the “Unity Meals”. The meals are organized from contributions from people in the residential area, simple and inexpensive. When the ceremony and festival are finished, the meals are served, the elderly, young, men and women gather, eat, drink, and chat happily. Many children far from home also gather together to celebrate, contributing to the development of their homeland. This demonstrates the spirit and tradition of national solidarity.

The festival is truly an opportunity to strengthen solidarity in villages and residential areas so that people can join hands and hearts to better carry out local campaigns and movements.
