Many lecturers in Quang Nam stopped working because they were owed salaries for half a year.

On the morning of December 19, a source said that yesterday afternoon, 9/13 lecturers (4 people were absent) of the Faculty of Medicine of Quang Nam Medical College held a meeting and agreed to stop working collectively from December 20.

A lecturer said that he has not received his salary for 6 months, making life difficult. The whole faculty still encourages each other to attend classes with students because they do not want to interrupt their studies, thoughts, and rights.

These lecturers shared that they will return to work when the school has settled all the salaries and allowances owed to the lecturers.

Up to now, 27 staff and lecturers of 3 faculties including Nursing Faculty, Basic Medicine Faculty and Medicine Faculty of Quang Nam Medical College have decided to stop working collectively due to prolonged salary arrears.

Previously, on December 14, 17 staff and lecturers of the school sent a notice of collective resignation to the school leadership. These staff members are from the Nursing Department and the Basic Health Department. The notice of resignation starts from December 18.

The reason given by these staff and lecturers is that the school has not paid their salaries and allowances for 6 months, from July 2023 to present. During this unpaid salary period, because they do not want to affect the students' studies, the staff and lecturers still come to school to work.

Up to now, the unpaid salary has been prolonged, the lives of many lecturers and staff have fallen into a very difficult situation, unable to continue working. From there, the faculty met and unanimously decided to stop working collectively from December 18 until the school resolved the salary and allowance regime.

The suspension of teaching activities will affect 6 classes at the Faculty of Nursing including D17A, D17B, D18A, D18B, Y26, D6S. The affected subjects are endocrine movement, psychology - communication skills, practice at school, internship at Quang Nam General Hospital...

By yesterday afternoon, two lecturers from the Faculty of Basic Medicine had stopped teaching, and more than 30 students had to take time off from school.
