After nearly three years of construction, the theater with a floor area of nearly 8,500 m2 and a capacity of more than 1,000 people in Ninh Binh City has been completed.
Ninh Binh Theater is located in a prime location in Thanh Binh Ward, Ninh Binh City with three facades, including the main facade facing Le Dai Hanh Street, the side and back are Hoang Dieu Street intersecting Ly Thai To.
The project has a total investment of 245 billion VND from the state budget, invested by the Ninh Binh Province Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The theater started construction in mid-July 2021 on a land area of over 6,450 m2. According to the design, the project consists of three blocks for performances, offices and a basement - technical area with a total floor area of nearly 8,500 m2.
Workers are currently completing the final items before accepting the project and putting it into use on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
The highlight of the project is the elliptical auditorium with a capacity of about 750 seats.
The auditorium is designed with two floors, elaborately decorated with modern sound and lighting systems.
The seats are installed in an arc shape with a steel frame covered with felt, the floor is covered with red carpet.
A group of engineers tested the sound system before the theater opened at the end of April. According to the investor's representative, in addition to the synchronized equipment, the soundproofing system in the large hall was also meticulously designed to meet the requirements of organizing large-scale cultural events in Ninh Binh province in the future.
It is expected that in 2024, the Sao Mai Diem Hen contest will be held here.
On the top floor of the theater, the water puppet performance area is designed in an open and airy direction. The stage has a capacity of 120 seats and can increase its capacity depending on the number of guests.
The ceiling and some large spaces inside the lobby are decorated with aluminum frames imported from the Netherlands. These frames have a decorative function and cover the ventilation system and electrical wires running above.
The project is determined to have a lifespan of 50 to 100 years.
To go up to the rooftop area to enjoy the view or watch the water puppet show, residents and visitors can take the elevator or follow the staircase designed on the side of the building facing Hoang Dieu Street. On both sides of the staircase are planted flowers, ornamental plants combined with green grass.
The operating area and administrative block are located behind the theater, on Ly Thai To street.
Mr. Tong Quang Thin, Permanent Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, said that the provincial theater is one of the key projects. With modern facilities, the theater can meet the needs of organizing professional cultural and artistic events of the locality, region or national and international scale.
Provincial leaders are directing the preparation of documents, collecting public opinions to submit to competent authorities for consideration of naming the project Pham Thi Tran Theater to honor the figure considered the founder of Vietnamese theater - who was once awarded the title of U Ba by King Dinh Tien Hoang, an official in charge of singing in the 10th century royal court.
