People talk about the murder case in Thanh Mien town

The perpetrator was in debt and tried to lure the victim to a deserted place.

Mr. Tran Duy Hung, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Phuong Hoang Ha Ward, Thanh Mien Town, was one of the first people to arrive at the crime scene. Mr. Hung said that at around 10:00 a.m. on July 23, he received a report from a local resident who discovered a motorbike with the key still in the ignition in Dong Cau Ward. After arriving at the scene, in addition to the motorbike lying on its side on the side of the road, Mr. Hung also saw two relatively new green sacks left nearby. Realizing something was wrong, he walked around to observe and discovered a body lying face down in a concrete ditch.

"We were shocked because the scene did not look like a traffic accident. The area was a deserted field with very few people passing by. Realizing the complexity of the incident, we immediately reported it to the police and local authorities," said Mr. Hung.

At around 1:30 p.m., the victim was identified as Bui Thi Thuy H. (born in 1994) from Do Nghia village, Nghia An commune (Ninh Giang). The victim's body had many wounds that looked like they had been stabbed by a sharp object, including many on her back. The victim died from multiple injuries and acute blood loss. Some people present at the scene believed that this was a deliberate murder. The perpetrator had prepared a weapon and chose a deserted location to commit the crime. In addition, Ms. H.'s phone was thrown into a nearby pond by the perpetrator, but it got caught on a raft of water spinach and did not sink.

After 1 hour of receiving the report, using professional measures, the Criminal Police Department (Provincial Police) together with Thanh Mien District Police verified, investigated and arrested the perpetrator, Tran Van Duc (born in 1998 in Phu Noi village, Thanh Mien town). Duc. and Ms. H. worked at the same company. According to the initial investigation, due to the debt of goods that had to be paid to the company, on the morning of July 23, Duc created many reasons to text Ms. H. to go to Cau field area, in Phuong Hoang Ha area to rob her property. Here, the subject used a knife to stab Ms. H. many times in the head, left chest and hand, causing her death. After committing the crime, Duc took some of the victim's property and quickly left the scene. Duc threw the murder weapon into the Cuu An river a few hundred meters from the scene.

The murderer lied about being in a traffic accident.

The place where Duc committed the crime was also the road that Ms. Nguyen Thi K. in Phu Noi area, Thanh Mien town went home from work every day. According to Ms. K., on her way home that afternoon, she met Duc walking. Duc said he had just been in a traffic accident that injured his leg and wanted Ms. K. to give him a ride. On the way, Ms. K. asked Duc about a strange motorbike parked on the side of the road, and Duc said it belonged to a sister who had also been in a traffic accident. This sister was more seriously injured and had been taken to the emergency room by the people. Ms. K. drove Duc about 60 meters, then Duc asked to get off to get his motorbike and go home. "In the afternoon, when I came home from work, I heard people say that Duc was the murderer who murdered Ms. H. in Dong Cau area, and my legs went weak. To this day, I'm still scared," Ms. K. said.

According to Mr. Do Tien Tuyen, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Phu Noi residential area, Thanh Mien town, Tran Van Duc was originally a gentle young man. After finishing high school, Duc did military service and was discharged at the end of 2022. Returning to his hometown, Duc went to work with his mother at a business in the district. After a while, Duc applied to work as an express delivery employee at a post office in Quang Minh commune (Gia Loc). This is also the workplace of the victim Bui Thi Thuy H. "Duc's family situation is quite difficult because Duc does not have a father. Duc's mother alone works hard day and night to earn money to support Duc's education. When the recent incident happened, we were also very surprised and felt sorry for Duc's mother," said Mr. Tuyen.

Authorities were present at the scene to investigate the cause of the incident.

The victim's pitiful situation

More than 10 days have passed since the death of Ms. Bui Thi Thuy H., but many people in Do Nghia village, Nghia An commune (Ninh Giang) are still shocked and saddened.

In the locality, Ms. H. is loved by everyone because of her gentle and simple personality. "H. is the only child in the family. After finishing college, H. worked for a while and then started a family in 2018. Because H. is gentle, everyone loves her. H.'s passing is a great loss for the family, the most pitiful are still the two children. The youngest is only 2 years old, the older is only 5 years old," said a friend of Ms. H.
