Due to the impact of storm No. 3 (super storm Yagi), Yen Bai province has had heavy rain, Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company has stopped running two pairs of passenger trains from Hanoi to Lao Cai.

Specifically, passenger trains SP3 and SP4 on the Hanoi-Lao Cai route will stop running on September 8. The plan to resume this route will depend on the weather and Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company will continue to update information about floods and rains to notify train passengers.

Due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone through the Northern region connecting with the circulation of the low pressure area weakened by storm No. 3, it is forecasted that from the night of September 8 to September 11, in the Yen Bai area, there will continue to be moderate rain, heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain with total rainfall ranging from 150-300mm, with some places over 400mm.

Currently, the Thao River is rising rapidly, causing some roads in Yen Bai city to be deeply flooded and traffic to be cut off.

Up to now, Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) has completed repairing the locations of fallen trees on the North-South railway through Hanoi and trains are now running normally.

In addition, VNR will support free round-trip train tickets for 100 volunteers from Thua Thien-Hue to Quang Ninh and Hai Phong provinces to join hands to share and support overcoming the consequences caused by storm No. 3.

“These 100 volunteers are expected to take train SE4 departing from Hue Station at 3:32 p.m. on September 9 to Hanoi Station. VNR will also welcome the group and provide attentive service to ensure the fastest post-storm relief and recovery work,” said a VNR representative.
