According to data from the European statistics agency (Eurostat), Russia has returned to the Top 5 largest grain suppliers after a year and a half.
In September, the European Union (EU) sharply increased its imports of Russian grain - up 22% compared to the previous month and 10 times higher than the same period last year, reaching 180,000 tons. This is the highest level since March 2022, helping Russia take the fourth place among the largest grain exporters to the EU.
In September, Ukraine was the main exporter of grain to the EU, with volumes up 1% month-on-month but down a quarter year-on-year to 1.2 million tonnes.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture confirmed the previously published forecast that Russia will export more than 65 million tons of grain in the current agricultural season. In 2023, Russia's grain output will reach nearly 150 million tons. Earlier, the Government supported the ban on durum wheat exports by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
On November 30, Deputy Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Mr. Azar Dzhioev, in his speech at the Conference of the organization's member states, said that more than 96,000 tons of Russian fertilizer are still blocked at European ports.
