Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said Moscow does not accept the ultimatum and will not participate in a new summit on Ukraine.
“We know that Kiev and its Western advisers intend to ‘rehabilitate’ themselves after the failed peace summit in Burgenstock (Switzerland) in mid-June this year and are trying to organize a similar event,” Sputnik quoted Galuzin as saying.
“The specific location has not been determined. However, geography is not of fundamental importance. What is more important is the content, in which everything is extremely clear,” Mr. Galuzin added.
Mr. Galuzin said Russia had been informed that Kiev hoped to get an ultimatum from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's 10-point peace formula, and also noticed a deliberate disregard for other initiatives to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
“We do not accept such ultimatums and will not participate in such ‘summits’,” Mr. Galuzin said.
The two-day Ukraine peace summit in Switzerland on June 15-16 ended without any results as expected. More than 100 countries and international organizations gathered at the lakeside resort near the city of Lucerne to call for support for the 10-point peace plan that President Zelensky first outlined by the end of 2022.
China refused to attend the conference and several influential non-Western countries refused to sign the joint statement – including Brazil, South Africa, India and Saudi Arabia. Iraq and Jordan withdrew their signatures the following day.
