On the first day of Lunar New Year, there were 56 traffic accidents nationwide.

The national traffic police force inspected, detected and handled 3,980 violations; temporarily detained 34 cars, 1,335 motorbikes, 20 other vehicles; revoked 115 driving licenses of all kinds, deducted driving license points for 493 cases. Among the violations, alcohol concentration violations still accounted for the largest proportion with 967 cases handled, followed by speeding violations with 963 cases; overloading 4 cases; carrying more people than the prescribed number 18 cases; and drug violations with 10 cases.

Traffic police arranged 144 patrols on National Highway 1A, inspected 5,966 vehicles (315 passenger cars, 332 trucks, 1,307 cars, 64 container trucks, 3,938 motorbikes, 10 other vehicles), detected, recorded and handled 564 violations (including 21 passenger cars, 12 trucks, 78 cars, 452 motorbikes), revoked driving licenses of 34 cases, and temporarily detained 126 vehicles. Compared to January 28, the number of controlled cases decreased by 4,801 cases, and the amount of fines decreased by nearly 1.3 billion VND.

Some of the violations that the Traffic Police focused on handling included alcohol concentration violations (67 cases), speeding violations (245 cases), driving in the wrong lane (38 cases), stopping and parking in violation of regulations (9 cases), handing over the vehicle to an unqualified person (8 cases), not having a driver's license (53 cases), overload violations, oversize violations (oversize), carrying more people than the prescribed number, testing positive for drugs, etc., said a representative of the Traffic Police Department.
