This spring-summer crop, the Institute of Food Crops (Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences) guided 96 households in Van To (Tu Ky) and Hung Long (Ninh Giang, both in Hai Duong) communes to plant 20 hectares of VC09 cucumber variety.

Compared to the control variety VA.886, the VC09 variety is less susceptible to downy mildew, yellow wilt, leaf miner, and white-striped green worm, thus saving costs on purchasing pest control products. VC09 melons yield 48.23 - 49.71 tons/ha, 0.44 - 0.7 tons/ha higher than the VA.886 variety. VC09 melons yield 114.6 million VND/ha, 18.3 million VND/ha higher than the control variety.

This is the result of the field workshop on the topic "Building a VC09 cucumber production model according to VietGAP in Hai Duong province", organized by the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology on the morning of May 13 in Hung Long commune (Ninh Giang).

VC09 is a hybrid cucumber variety created by the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants, suitable for soil in some regions in Hai Duong.
