After Viettel launched the 5G package, network operators Vinaphone and MobiFone also announced trial programs for users.
MobiFone is the latest network operator to join the 5G race. In an announcement this weekend, the network operator said it is "focusing on deploying work, ready for 5G commercialization". It is expected that users will be able to experience 5G services from November.
Meanwhile, Vinaphone said the 5G trial program will take place from October 13 to November 15. If you own a 5G phone, when you travel through areas with signal, you will receive a message inviting you to experience the service. You will be given 50 GB of data to try the high-speed connection for 30 days.
Vinaphone’s free trial plan was carried out two days before Viettel officially commercialized 5G. In a letter to the media, the network operator said it would introduce 5G products and services on October 15 to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
In fact, recently, Viettel Telecom has quietly launched a trial program before announcing a 5G package with prices starting at 135,000 VND.
According to the plan, Viettel will deploy 5G simultaneously in 63 provinces and cities, but there is no information about the specific areas that will be covered. Vinaphone and MobiFone have also not shared about the locations where the test will be conducted.
In a new announcement, VNPT affirmed that it will complete the installation of more than 3,000 5G broadcasting stations for Vinaphone nationwide, emphasizing coverage in urban areas and major economic centers nationwide.
Meanwhile, MobiFone said it is implementing a cooperation model to share infrastructure with network operators with suitable 5G bands.
According to the infrastructure strategy of the Ministry of Information and Communications, by 2025, 100% of provinces, cities, high-tech zones, concentrated information technology zones, research and development centers, innovation centers, industrial parks, stations, seaports, and international airports will have 5G mobile services. The minimum speed of this network must reach 100 Mbps.
For ordinary users, the biggest difference of 5G technology is the maximum speed under ideal conditions reaching 10 Gbps. In fact, some tests with 5G in Vietnam show that the download speed can reach 1 Gbps, 10 times higher than the 4G network in the same location.
In addition, the advantages of the next-generation network are ultra-low latency and the ability to support a large number of devices, promoting many applications such as autonomous vehicles, remote control of surgical equipment, virtual reality and augmented reality experiences...
To use it, in addition to registering for a package, users need a device with new generation network technology. High-end phones from iPhone 12, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold2 and later support 5G. Many mid-range and low-cost Android models launched in the last 2-3 years have also been equipped with this connection.
