Some of the following ways will help you overcome the problem of difficulty sleeping when sitting in economy class on an airplane.
Select seat
Choosing a good seat is a prerequisite for a good night's sleep, especially on long-haul flights. A cramped seat with no legroom will ruin the flying experience. Seat selection fees may be waived depending on your frequent flyer status.
Most people will choose a window or wall seat because it allows passengers to lean against the cabin instead of leaning into someone else's seat. The downside is that passengers have to step over two other seats to get to the bathroom.
However, this depends on the airline you are flying with. Some commercial aircraft have a 2-4-2 seating configuration, so the passenger in the window seat will only bother one other passenger when they need to use the bathroom.
An aisle seat is a better option for some people because you don’t need to bother anyone. The downside is that you will be woken up by the person next to you if they need to leave their seat.
Bring necessary items
In addition to a comfortable seat, you should bring some essentials to help you sleep well on your flight. Some of these items might be an eye mask, earplugs, or a travel pillow.
While you sleep, other passengers may be reading, eating or working. Bright lights and electronic screens will shine into your eyes. So always bring an eye mask if you don't want the sudden light to affect your sleep.

Chattering, talking, or loud noises can also disrupt your sleep. Using earplugs or headphones with soothing, instrumental music is a good option to help you sleep better.
A travel pillow will help you sleep better. Ensuring your neck is properly supported will not only help you fall asleep more easily, but will also help relieve neck and shoulder pain.
Ask your doctor
If you have completed the above steps and are still having trouble sleeping, you may want to consider consulting your doctor. They will be able to advise you on the best treatment and medication for you.
