Striker Anthony Martial has completed a loan move to Sevilla from Man United until the end of the season.
This is a simple loan deal with no option to buy at the end of the season. However, if all three parties reach an agreement in the summer of 2022, Martial could join Sevilla on loan for another season.
Sevilla will pay Martial a salary of 6 million euros for the next 6 months. The French striker has accepted a pay cut to facilitate the departure. At Sevilla, Martial will wear the number 22 shirt.
Martial's decision to leave Man United is understandable because he needs to play regularly in the context of the World Cup starting later this year. If he wants to be called up to the French national team by coach Didier Deschamps, Martial needs to convince with his performance on the pitch.
The last time Martial participated in an international tournament with the French team was in 2016. At the 2018 World Cup and recently EURO 2020, Martial did not participate.
Martial has only started two Premier League games for MU this season due to his inability to compete for a place. The 26-year-old striker joined the Red Devils in 2015 from Monaco, and has made 269 appearances for the club, scoring 79 goals.
Martial currently has a contract with Man United until 2024.
