The spokesman for the Houthi movement in Yemen, Mr. Yahya Sarea, announced on November 19 that this force will attack all ships owned and operated by Israeli companies or flying the Israeli flag.
In a statement on his Telegram account, a Houthi spokesman called on countries to withdraw their citizens working on ships linked to Israel.
According to AFP, Houthi forces have repeatedly targeted Israel in recent weeks. The US Navy said it had intercepted several missiles fired by the Houthis last month.
The Houthis are among a number of movements fighting Israel and the United States. The Yemeni Islamist group has carried out attacks across the region since October 7, when violence erupted in Gaza.
The Houthi forces have demonstrated their missile and drone prowess in the war targeting critical infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Saudi-led coalition accuses Iran of arming, training and funding Houthi members. However, the group denies any links to Iran and says it develops its own weapons.
