According to Ukraine's Ukrinform news agency, the US Department of Defense has announced a new security assistance package for Ukraine, worth $600 million, as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh announced the information at a press conference on September 7 (local time).
“Today, the Department of Defense announced a new security assistance package as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative to support Ukraine’s battlefield needs,” Singh said, adding that the $600 million package includes equipment to enhance Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, artillery shells, and other weapons.
Meanwhile, a statement posted on the Pentagon's website said the weapons in the aid package include equipment to maintain and integrate Ukraine's air defense systems, additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), 105mm artillery shells, electronic warfare and electronic countermeasures equipment, obstacle clearance munitions, mine clearance equipment, as well as equipment to support training and weapons maintenance.
