On the morning of February 24, the People's Court of Kinh Mon town (Hai Duong) opened the first-instance trial of the criminal case of defendant Nguyen Van Nam (born in 1988, residing in Ngu Uyen residential area, Long Xuyen ward, Kinh Mon) for the crimes of fraud and appropriation of property and the crime of forging documents of agencies and organizations; using forged documents of agencies and organizations.
In June 2020, Nam came up with the idea of forging a land use right certificate under his name to give to Nguyen Cong Thoan (born in 1990, residing in Cam Dong commune, Cam Giang) as collateral to borrow money. Nam hired someone via Facebook to forge a land use right certificate under his name with an area of 100 square meters, in Ngu Uyen residential area, issued by Kinh Mon town People's Committee. After having the fake land use right certificate, Nam gave it to Thoan as collateral to borrow money twice, for a total of 57 million VND.
The People's Court of Kinh Mon town sentenced defendant Nguyen Van Nam to 2 years and 5 months in prison for fraud and appropriation of property, and 2 years and 4 months in prison for forging documents of agencies and organizations; and using forged documents of agencies and organizations.
